Barbados squad announced for Bermuda clash

Category: | 0 Replies

After stunning Bermuda at home in Hamilton late last year, the Barbados national team will be looking to do the same thing this coming weekend as the visitors come in search of revenge. They clash in the return international friendly match this coming Sunday at 4:00 PM, when the Tridents will be sporting a home-field advantage at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

Explaining that all was in order for the return game, Technical Director at the Barbados Football Association Ahmed Mohamed said that his side was ready for the match up.

“We have been working since we left Bermuda last year without interruption so the team is ready for the coming game. We are more mentally prepared this time because our main problem up untill now was always concentration. So we have been working on that a lot. Bermuda is a really tough opponent and they have a lot of overseas players in their line-up. The majority of the team is based outside of Bermuda and that will be very good preparation for us for our first game against Guyana [in the Concacaf Nationa League]” he said.

Other than the local players at his disposal, Mohamed said that we would also be employing overseas talents such as Goalkeeper Keasel Broome, who plays in the USL, and Carl Hinkson, who will be making his senior national team debut after playing at the college level in the US.

With Dishon 'Eto'o' Howell changing the game for the Bajans last year that saw them coming from 2-1 to take the 3-2 win in a matter of minutes, Mohamed said that the plan was not to lean too heavily on the youngster as he still had some growing to do.

“Eto'o is still young so our main goal is to integrate him into the team step-by-step. So he will have his time but he will not start.” Mohamed said.
