Shaquan Collymore of Ellerton watches closely as Rendezvous' Nicholas Jones looks to put the ball in.
The woes continue for Rendezvous FC in the Barbados Football Association Premier League as the points are slow in coming. After their meteoric rise to the top-tier of local football just a few years back, the club is a far cry from the powerhouse it once was as they were held to a second loss in four games. Now on just two points from two draws, they were kept out of the winner's circle when Crane and Equipment Ellerton held them to a 4-0 result in Tuesday night's last game of a double-header at the Wildey Turf.
Rendezvous would have found it tough going early on as Ellerton was having a great game. With Ellerton playing a more-organised game, Zinio Harris finally capitalised on one of his many chances in the 26th minute to put his team up before the break.
The second half saw Ellerton continue to pound at the door and Rendezvous did their best to thwart every single chance. However, with each attempt a bit of the armour was broken away. Despite having some good chances of their own, each drive at goal was shut down quickly by the Ellerton defence.
Ellerton picked back up their groove in the 82nd minute as Shaquan Clarke started doing the right things. He knocked home back-to-back goals in the 82nd and 86th minutes before Shaquan Collymore added the final goal in the 91st minute to tie things up.
Rendezvous now sit at the bottom of the Zone 2 standings and in the relegation zone just one game shy of the end of the first round. Ellerton find themselves in second place with seven points from four games behind the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (9)
The earlier game saw Brittons Hill moving back up to second place in Zone 1 behind defending champions Weymouth Wales after coming from behind to dispatch Abrahams United Silver Sands. Silver Sands, who had a good run in the Williams Equipment Preseason Cup, have just three points from a single win in four games.
After opening the evening's proceedings with a goal from Derrine Gale Forde in the 26th minute, Brittons Hill decided to wait for the second half before bouncing back. Denzil Fordyce got the teams back on even terms in the 50th before Jahshawn Moore got the go-ahead for Brittons Hill in the 69th. The long and lanky Travis Coppin drove the final nail home just a minute after to see Brittons Hill to six points from two wins and two losses. Silver Sands still remain in the relegation zone with three points from a single win in four games.
The league is set to continue tomorrow evening at the Wildey turf with two games at the venue. With the Barbados Soccer Academy and Gall Hill locking horns in the 7:00 PM fixture, Home Improvement Hardware Compton and the Sports Programme are up in the nightcap at 9:00.
