The quarterfinals of Under 9 category of the Guardian Group Youth Football Competition kicks off tomorrow in earnest at the Wildey Turf.
Eight teams have advanced and will be looking for a spot in the semi-finals. The first quarterfinal kicks off at 8.30 am when Barbados Youth Service will take on Pro Shottas United. Barbados Youth Service topped Zone A with 19 points are their seven games. They are still unbeaten in the competition with only one draw blemishing their record. Pro Shottas have qualified as the fourth placed team out of Zone B with 12 points from four wins.
Quarterfinal two is at 9.30 a.m. where Fitts Village West Coast come up against White Hall U9. Fitts Village emerged second in Zone A with 15 points and are also unbeaten. They got four wins and three draws in their seven games. White Hall on the other hand qualified out of Zone B on 13 points from four wins, one draw and two loses, enough to capture third place in that zone.
At 10.30 a.m. will see the Youth Milan U9 versus Kickstart Hot Shots quarterfinal. Kickstart lost only one game in their campaign and accumulated 18 points on their way to a second placed finish in Zone B. Milan captured third place in Zone A with 12 points losing 3 games in the process.
Quarterfinal four will see a face-off between the stars, United Stars Alliance and All Stars Elite at 11.30 a.m. United Stars Alliance won Zone B after winning all seven games and capturing 21 points. All Stars mustered fourth place in Zone A winning three games, drawing two and losing two. 11 points was enough for them to advance.
The semi-finals beckon next weekend and after tomorrow we will see who emerges. Good luck to all teams.
