Brittons Hill get off the mark against Youth Milan

Category: | 0 Replies

Brittons Hill have finally gotten their first three-point haul, picking up their first win when the 2018-2019 Barbados Premier League continued last night. With only one other team from Zone 1, the University of the West Indies Blackbirds, copping a victory in the out-of-zone fixtures, Brittons Hill have begun their uphill journey to get out of the relegation zone. Coming up against Youth Milan, who is the only team from Zone 2 to not have capitalisedon the cross-zone games, Brittons Hill took home a 1-0 result for the win.

With the game getting started last Saturday and unable to get past half-time due to technical issues at the Wildey Turf, the second half was played last night at the Turf. The lone goal in the game came in the 63rd minute when Zidkigah Samuel was fed a fantastic pass on the left flank. Taking down the lob on his head before showing control and composure to see him into the final third with a defender on his back, Samuel squared the ball into the six-yard to find the side Kishmar Wade's boot and the back of the nets.

The action is set to get back on track this weekend with triple-headers at the Wildey Turf on Saturday and Sunday. RBC Capital Markets Barbados Soccer Academy and Crane and Equipment Ellerton have the first game at 5:00 PM on Saturday and both teams could use a win as they are on eight and nine points respectively.

At 7:00 PM, Youth Milan will be hoping to bounce back from back-to-back losses as they have a date with Mark's Auto Spares Porey Spring United. Youth Milan are at the bottom of the barrel in Zone 2 with seven points while Porey Spring fourth in Zone 1 with eight.

Saturday's nightcap will feature the two group leaders and Weymouth Wales and Empire Club lock horns at 9:00 PM. Wales are atop Zone 1 with 11 points while Empire rule things in Zone 2 with 18.

Sunday's action gets started at 4:00 PM with Clayton's Kola Tonic Notre Dame and Paradise FC. The Dames are fifth in Zone 1 on five points and Paradise are flying high in Zone 2 as the only unbeaten team left in the competition. They are second behind Empire on 15 points.

Scotty's Car Rentals St. Andrew Lions (7) will be hoping to keep their momentum going after two wins on the trot. The 6:00 PM game will see them up against Brittons Hill, who are the bottom of Zone 2 with five points.

Sunday's last game will see the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme taking on the UWI Blackbirds. The soldiers are third in Zone 2 with 14 points while the Blackbirds are second with eight. That game kicks off at 8:00 PM.
