Deacons FC are the 2019 champions of Division One. They sealed the title when they defeated Wotton 2-1 in the second of three matches played in the Division One Champions Play-off on Monday at the Wildey Turf.
The Black Rock-based team walked away with the title after defeating Wotton in the first match by a similar margin last week.
Shaquon Haynes and Kadeem Atkins were the goal scorers for Deacons while Rico Baptiste scored the goal for Wotton.
Deacons will play in the Premier League next season along with Wotton. They enjoyed a relatively good season in Zone 1 of the Division competition and were able to elapse early front runners Silversands for the top spot. They finished the season 15 points clear of the second placed team.
Meanwhile Silversands have taken a huge advantage towards Premier League promotion when they defeated Blackspurs 5-2 in the first of two matches in the 3rd and 4th place play-offs.
Derine Gale was the chief destroyer for Silversands scoring all five of their goals. Rondelle Vaughn and Malcolm Stuart scored for Spurs. It now means Spurs will need to score at least 3 clear goals if they are to over-turn this deficit and be promoted to the Premier League for next season. The second and final game will be played on Thursday at the Turf.
