Females Can Ball (FCB) came out kicking hard tonight and made sure nothing stood in their way or their chances at the semi-finals, demolishing Stargirlz 8-0.
Top goal scorer of the inaugural Barbados Football Association's Women's Futsal Challenge, Shanice Stevenson, was instrumental in helping her team to victory with five goals, at the Oasis facility, Kendal Hill, Christ Church tonight.
Shonna Evelyn opened the scoring for the winners, and it wasn’t long before Stevenson secured a brace in the first half. In quick time, Kimberly Ellis and Amber De Silva also got on the scorecard ahead of Stevenson, just before the half time whistle.
As the second half continued, Stargirlz seemed disenchanted and with no haste, Stevenson capitalized on the advantage and put two more goals on the scorecard for FCB by the time the final whistle was blown.
At the end of these games, FCB continues to lead Zone 1 on 15 points, after winning all five of their matches and securing 35 goals for the entire tournament; 21 of which were made by Stevenson.
Meanwhile, in the nightcap encounter, Pride of Lioness Ballers pulled off a 3-1 victory over the Wasps when Ashanee Thompson scored the first goal in the third minute of the game, and another in the 30th, while Marissa King got on the scorecard in the 21st.
However, the Wasps managed to pocket a lone goal courtesy Kerry Bascombe in the 15th, but it was not enough to secure passage into the semi-finals.
PLB is in second place with ten points, Wasps are in third with six, Stargirlz are in fourth position with four points and the Catalan Giants bring up the rear with one point.
The Giants have a final chance to increase their scoring when they go up against Girls Playing Soccer (GPS) tomorrow night.
Futsal Shottas and Exodus, who both stand on nine points each, will face each other to battle for a spot in the semis. Additionally, Kopites, who currently stands on four points, are favored to book a spot in the semis over Girls With Goals (GWG).
