The Concacaf Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 scheduled for the FIFA match windows of October and November 2020 have been postponed.
Following recent discussions between the two bodies, member associations, and other relevant stakeholders, the decision was taken and the matches are now scheduled to begin with the first round in the FIFA match window of March 2021.
Many parts of the region continue to grapple with challenging public health situations linked to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and that has been given as a key factor in this move.
Additionally, several countries across the confederation have travel restrictions and quarantine requirements, which would make international football involving 30 national teams extremely difficult at this time.
The new schedule will be communicated in due course.
