Emmerson Boyce has been appointed as Technical Director of the Barbados Football Association (BFA) for the next four years.
President Randy Harris just announced the former senior men's national captain as the Technical Director, who will be tasked with overseeing the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, a pilot project which kicks off on June 1, with full implementation from January 2023.
Boyce's portfolio will include responsibility for the technical department, the BFA Coaching Education, all junior teams from Under-20s, and all women teams. Boyce, a defender, is no stranger to the game, and was a part of the local men's line-up for five years, making his debut for the senior men's team in 2008. However, he is most revered as captain of Wigan Athletic which he led to victory in the 2013 FA Cup Final against Manchester City. The talented footballer who holds a UEFA B License and is set to conclude his UEFA A License, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the BFA Coaching Education, all junior teams from Under-20s, and all women teams.

The talented footballer who holds a UEFA B License and is set to conclude his UEFA A License, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the BFA through his academy, the Emmerson Boyce Foundation, in 2020. The MOU held a focus on developing the women's side of the sport.
Boyce has been instrumental in assisting the women to take their game forward and is hopeful he can do the same with all the national teams.
Meanwhile, Boyce said it was a great honor and privilege to be named Technical Director of the Barbados FA.
"I would like to thank the president Randy Harris and the General secretary Edwyn Wood for putting their faith in me to help develop football in Barbados. The president has a clear vision and I will do my best to make that dream a reality. It’s not about Emmerson Boyce; it’s about a collective unit of everyone involved in football in Barbados.
"I believe from grassroots all the way to national coaches we all have our part to play and I believe if we come together as one then we will build a better future for the Barbados national teams, both male and female," he said.
