Three of our very own Team Barbados Referees have been appointed to attend the 2022 Caribbean Football Union Boys’ U-14 Challenge Series in the Dominican Republic.
The Challenge Series is a development program for emerging Referees to provide competition experience for their assessment and the opportunity to become FIFA International Officials in the future.
Shireen Alleyne is one of our talented emerging Assistant Referees for over five years. This will be her second attendance at the U-14 Tournament. She officiated in the Girls Tournament in 2020. Shireen recently attended the Concacaf Girls U-15 Tournament in Florida in July and officiated the B finals. She also attended the CFU Emerging Referees course in Jamaica last month. Shireen is expected to become a FIFA Assistant Referee within the next three years.
Jermaine Newsam is a National 2 emerging Referee for over six years. He also attended the CFU Emerging Referees course in Jamaica. This is his first appointment to the U-14 Tournament. It is hoped that Jermaine will be part of the future of Barbadian refereeing.
Cleon Culley is one of our young emerging local Referees and has been refereeing for three years. His attendance at the U-14 Tournament will contribute significantly to his future development.
