BARBADOS defeated Guadeloupe 2-0 in their first match of the CONCACAF Under-15 Championships at IMG Academy in Florida yesterday.
While both teams finished the first half goalless, the young Bajan Tridents came back in the second half full of vigour, and landed two goals, courtesy Ethan Bryan and Abiola Grant.
In a post-match interview with NATIONSPORT, head coach Renaldo Gilkes said while he was proud of the boys, they now needed to maintain their consistency.
“We go up against Puerto Rico tomorrow [today]. They defeated Guadeloupe 4-1 in their match, so this is a top of the table clash for us. We have games against Guadeloupe on Thursday and Puerto Rico on Friday, as Belize dropped out of the group for whatever reason.
“We rest on Wednesday, and will be looking to continue with the winning performance throughout the tournament,” Gilkes said. (RA)
