The National Sports Council continued their march towards a repeat in the Barbados Football Association's Women's League this past weekend with solid thrashing of debutantes Ellerton. Playing in the second game at Friendship on Sunday evening, the many-time champions blasted 16 goals past the newcomers who began the game two players short.
National player Shanice Stevenson was the toast of the Sports Council ladies as she led the charge with seven goals, while Tianna Hackett racked up a beaver-trick. Rhea Holder and Kamillah Burke both came in with braces while Kimberly Ellis opened the show with her lone goal.
Third-placed Mavericks were also in winner's row as they put four past Eden Stars Football Club Unity Stars. Felicia Jarvis had back-to-back goals to bring up a hat-trick and Hannisha Hoyte added the fourth. Unity Stars got themselves a consolation from the boot of Nicole Parris.
The evening was opened with a two-one win going to Kick Start Genesis over Technique. Christaline Chandler put the Kick Start women on first but Nadia Bretney found the equaliser. The scales were tipped later in the game by Tiana Bynoe to give Genesis the win.
