The senior Lady Tridents are set to make a comeback tonight after over two years of no competition.
They face Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City in their opening game in Group D of the 2022 Concacaf W Qualifiers.
The Lady Tridents will face a fierce battle against hosts Panama, but head coach Marlon Harte and the women remain optimistic.
At present, Las Canaleras is ranked 58th in the world and sixth in the Concacaf region, while Barbados is ranked 144th in the world and 19th in Concacaf.
Panama will be hoping to improve on their fourth-place finish at the 2018 Concacaf W Championship.
But Barbados’ spirits remain high, as they have bolstered their team with the likes of left-back and Chicago State University student Keinelle Johnson, who scored a brace in the team’s 4-0 finish against USVI on October 6, 2019; the team’s last competitive outing.
